Amaranthaceae. Die Familie der fuchsschwanz ähnlichen Gewächse enthält mehrere für den Blumenfreund willkommene und prachtvolle Sommer pflanzen von der leichtesten Behandlung. Am besten gedeihen diese Gewächse, wenn sie in einem warmen Beete großgezogen und später auf eine warmgelegene Rabatte inʼs Freie versetzt werden. – Hieher gehören Amaranthus melancholicus und tricolor, ihrer bunten Blätter wegen cultivirt; Celosia cristata, Hahnenkamm, und Gomphrena globosa, Kugelamaranth; lauter einjährige Arten.
