Nazir Ahmed, Baron Ahmed

Nazir Ahmed, Baron Ahmed (* 24. April 1958 in Mirpur, Asad Kaschmir, Pakistan) ist ein britischer Politiker (ex-Labour) und Mitglied des House of Lords. Ahmed wurde 1958 in Mirpur (Asad Kaschmir, Pakistan) geboren, wuchs aber in Großbritannien auf. Er hat drei Kinder und zwei Enkel. Ahmed lebt in Rotherham.

Er wurde 1998 der zweite muslimische Peer Großbritanniens. Viele seiner politischen Betätigungen beziehen sich auf Fragen rund um die muslimische Gemeinschaft, was oft Kontroversen mit sich bringt.

Im Februar 2009 wurde Ahmed aus der Labour-Partei ausgeschlossen. Grund war eine Verurteilung wegen "dangerous driving"; ein Gericht hatte ihm eine Mitschuld an einem Verkehrsunfall zugesprochen, bei dem 2007 eine Person ums Leben kam, und ihn zu einer Haftstrafe verurteilt.
