Networking

Netzwerker ist eine umgangssprachliche Bezeichnung für Menschen, die ein Beziehungsnetz (vgl. Soziales Netzwerk (Soziologie)) aktiv aufbauen und erweitern. Oftmals werden diese Beziehungen danach gewinnbringend eingesetzt. In diesem Zusammenhang kann „Netzwerker“ abwertend gemeint sein. Früher wurde dafür der Begriff der Vetternwirtschaft verwendet.

Unter der Tätigkeit „netzwerken“ (Networking) versteht man den Aufbau und die Pflege eines Beziehungsgeflechts einer mehr oder weniger großen Gruppe von einander „verbundenen“ Personen, die sich gegenseitig kennen, sich informieren, und manchmal unabhängig von ihren Leistungen zum Beispiel in ihrer Karriere fördern oder andere Vorteile verschaffen.

Ein Netzwerk hilft nicht vor dem Verlust des Arbeitsplatzes, hilft aber, leichter einen neuen zu finden, da der Großteil der Stellen in den höheren Etagen über Kontakte besetzt wird und nicht allein durch Stellenausschreibungen. Das ändert nichts daran, dass die Kriterien eigene Ausbildung, Leistungsbereitschaft, Erfahrung usw. natürlich auch erfüllt sein müssen.

Bekannte Beispiele für Netzwerker sind Moritz Hunzinger, Udo Proksch und Klaus Schwab. Bekannte Netzwerker sind auch die "Similauner", eine Gruppe von hochrangigen Managern der deutschen Wirtschaft, die seit Anfang der 1990er Jahre gemeinsam mit Reinhold Messner zum Bergsteigen gehen.[1]

Heute machen sich auch Online-Communities das Social-Network-Konzept zu Nutze, siehe Soziales Netzwerk (Informatik). Beispiele für Online-Communities sind die Plattformen Facebook, LinkedIn und XING.
