Das Norman County[2] ist ein County im US-amerikanischen Bundesstaat Minnesota. Bei der Volkszählung im Jahr 2010 hatte das County 6.852 Einwohner und eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 3 Einwohnern pro Quadratkilometer. Der Verwaltungssitz (County Seat) ist Ada.

Das County liegt im Nordwesten von Minnesota, grenzt im Westen an North Dakota und hat eine Fläche von 2.271 Quadratkilometern, wovon 1 Quadratkilometer Wasserfläche sind. Es grenzt an folgende Countys:

Geschichte

Das Norman County wurde am 8. November 1881 aus Teilen des Polk County gebildet. Benannt wurde es nach den ersten norwegischen Siedlern, die sich hier niederließen.

Nach der Volkszählung im Jahr 2000 lebten im Norman County 7442 Menschen in 3010 Haushalten und 2.007 Familien. Die Bevölkerungsdichte betrug 3 Einwohner pro Quadratkilometer. Ethnisch betrachtet setzte sich die Bevölkerung zusammen aus 95,30 Prozent Weißen, 0,11 Prozent Afroamerikanern, 1,73 Prozent amerikanischen Ureinwohnern, 0,31 Prozent Asiaten und 1,13 Prozent aus anderen ethnischen Gruppen; 1,42 Prozent stammten von zwei oder mehr Ethnien ab. 3,05 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren spanischer oder lateinamerikanischer Abstammung, die verschiedenen der genannten Gruppen angehörten.

Von den 3.010 Haushalten hatten 30,1 Prozent Kinder unter 18 Jahren, die bei ihnen lebten. 57,8 Prozent davon waren verheiratete, zusammenlebende Paare. 5,9 Prozent waren alleinerziehende Mütter und 33,3 Prozent waren keine Familien. 31,3 Prozent waren Singlehaushalte und in 17,0 Prozent der Haushalte lebten alleinstehende Menschen im Alter von 65 Jahren oder darüber. Die Durchschnittshaushaltsgröße lag bei 2,41 Personen, die durchschnittliche Familiengröße bei 3,04 Personen.

25,7 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren unter 18 Jahre alt. 6,2 Prozent waren zwischen 18 und 24, 24,1 Prozent zwischen 25 und 44, 23,0 Prozent zwischen 45 und 64 und 20,9 Prozent waren älter als 65 Jahre. Das Durchschnittsalter betrug 41 Jahre. Auf 100 weibliche kamen statistisch 98,6 männliche Personen. Auf 100 Frauen im Alter von 18 Jahren oder darüber kamen 96,8 Männer.

Das jährliche Durchschnittseinkommen eines Haushalts betrug 32.535 USD und das Durchschnittseinkommen einer Familie betrug 41.280 USD. Männer hatten ein Durchschnittseinkommen von 28.674 USD, Frauen 20.619 USD. Das Pro - Kopf - Einkommen betrug 15.895 USD. 7,1 Prozent der Familien und 10,3 Prozent der Einwohner lebten unterhalb der Armutsgrenze.[9]
