Opportunist

Opportunist (von lat. opportunus „günstig“, „bequem“) hat folgende Bedeutungen:

  • im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch eine Person, die zweckmäßig handelt, um sich der jeweiligen Lage anzupassen und einen Vorteil daraus zu ziehen. Opportunismus wird häufig mit politischem und sozialem Bezug als grundsatz- oder charakterloses Verhalten beschrieben.
  • in der Medizin ein opportunistischer Erreger, der nur aufgrund einer besonderen Disposition des Wirts, wie einer Immunschwäche, zu einer Krankheit führt
  • unter Kapitalanlegern ein Anlegertyp, der günstig erscheinende Ereignisse oder Trends für seine Anlageentscheidungen nutzt, siehe Transaktionskostentheorie
  • in der Volkswirtschaftslehre bezeichnen Opportunitätskosten den Nutzen, der einem durch Wahl der nächstbesten Möglichkeit entgehen könnte
  • in der Biologie und Ökologie Arten oder Individuen von Pflanzen oder Tieren, die außerhalb ihres spezifischen Normbereiches jede Gelegenheit zu ihrem Vorteil nutzen
