Plungė anhören?/i (polnisch Płungiany) ist eine Stadt und Sitz der gleichnamigen Rajongemeinde im Bezirk Telšiai im Nordwesten Litauens. Historisch liegt es in der Region Niederlitauen.

Stadt

Der Ort wurde erstmals 1567 erwähnt. Stadtrecht wurde 1792 verliehen.

Rajongemeinde

Die Rajongemeinde (Plungės rajono savivaldybė) umfasst neben der Stadt Plungė, die Städtchen (miesteliai) Alsėdžiai, Kuliai, Plateliai und Žemaičių Kalvarija, sowie 206 Dörfer.
