Luz ist eine portugiesische Gemeinde (Freguesia) und Kleinstadt (Vila) in der Nähe von Lagos. Auf einer Fläche von 21,83 km² leben 3.068 Einwohner (Stand: 2001), was einer Bevölkerungsdichte von 140,6 Einwohnern/km² entspricht. Traurige Bekanntheit erlangte der Ort dadurch, dass am 3. Mai 2007 das britische Mädchen Madeleine McCann aus dem ortsansässigen "Oceans Club" verschwand.

Sehenswürdigkeiten

Das Castelo da Senhora da Luz und das Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora da Luz sind ehemalige Befestigungen der Stadt.

Praia da Luz ist ein beliebter Badestrand an der Algarve in Portugal. Er befindet sich ca. 4 km westlich von Lagos unterhalb des Städtchens Luz. An der Strandpromenade befinden sich zahlreiche Souvenir-Läden und Restaurants.
