Handlung

Der stellvertretende Bezirksstaatsanwalt von Chicago Rusty Sabich wird mit den Ermittlungen in Bezug auf die Ermordung seiner Kollegin Carolyn Polhemus betraut. Da ihn jedoch eine Affäre mit dem Mordopfer verband, wird er schnell selbst zum Hauptverdächtigen. Er wird vor Gericht aus Mangel an Beweisen freigesprochen. Später findet er heraus, dass seine Frau Barbara die Täterin war.

Kritiken

Roger Ebert lobte in der Chicago Sun-Times vom 27. Juli 1990 die Regie von Alan J. Pakula und die Darstellungen von Harrison Ford, Greta Scacchi, Bonnie Bedelia, Paul Winfield, Raul Julia sowie Brian Dennehy.

Auszeichnungen

John Williams gewann für die Filmmusik den BMI Film & TV Award. Alan J. Pakula und Frank Pierson wurden für den Edgar Allan Poe Award nominiert.
