Der Flughafen San Diego International Airport liegt direkt im Stadtgebiet von San Diego, Kalifornien. Er trägt den Beinamen Lindbergh Field, benannt nach dem Piloten Charles Lindbergh [2], der 1927 von San Diego aus nach New York und von dort zum ersten Solo-Transatlantikflug der Geschichte aufbrach. Der Flughafen wurde 1928 eröffnet und 1934 zum internationalen Flughafen vergrößert.
San Diego International hat unter den Verkehrsflughäfen mit nur einer Start- und Landebahn das größte Passagieraufkommen in den USA. Im weltweiten Vergleich liegt er auf dem zweiten Platz, nach London-Gatwick.
