Das nachfolgende Verzeichnis der Schriften von Charles Sanders Peirce dient als Ergänzung zum Verzeichnis der Werke von Peirce im Hauptartikel.

Vorbemerkung

Peirce hat seine Arbeiten niemals in Monographien veröffentlicht, sondern in Zeitschriftenaufsätzen und Lexikonartikeln. Darüber hinaus gibt es eine Reihe von Vorlesungsmanuskripten sowie eine außerordentlich große Zahl von überwiegend handschriftlichen Manuskripten für weitere Aufsätze und geplante Bücher. Das Werk, soweit es überhaupt veröffentlicht ist, ist daher nur in den Collected Papers und einer Reihe von Anthologien verfügbar. Die Manuskripte sind mikroverfilmt. Im Werksverzeichnis des Hauptartikels sind die wesentlichen Sammelbände verzeichnet.

In der Sekundärliteratur zu Peirce hat es sich eingebürgert, Peirce anhand der verfügbaren Werksausgaben zu zitieren, ohne den jeweiligen Titel der einzelnen Arbeit und deren Veröffentlichungszeitpunkt zu nennen.

Dieses (unvollständige) Verzeichnis gibt eine Hilfestellung zur Entschlüsselung der jeweiligen Kurzzitate. Es besteht aus zwei Teilen:

  • Zunächst wird das Inhaltsverzeichnis der Collected Papers wiedergegeben und unterhalb der einzelnen Gliederungspunkte die darin enthaltenen Titel mit den entsprechenden Seitenangaben. Soweit in den Collected Papers zusammenhängende Arbeiten auseinander gerissen und an verschiedenen Stellen vorzufinden sind, werden die entsprechenden Querverweise mit aufgeführt. Zusätzlich enthalten sind Hinweise auf den Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung bzw. der vermutlichen Entstehung.
  • Die zweite Liste ist chronologisch sortiert und benennt die möglichen Fundstellen in den Sammelbänden. Sie ist notwendig umfangreicher, weil hierin auch nicht in den Collected Papers veröffentlichte Schriften und Manuskripte von Peirce erfasst sind.
