Der Bodengucker (Selene vomer), auch als Pferdekopf, Pferdekopffisch oder Bodengucker-Makrele bezeichnet, ist ein Fisch aus der Ordnung der Barschartigen (Perciformes).

Der Bodengucker ist mit seinem großen Kopf und seinem kleinen, sich stark verjüngenden Körper ein Fisch von äußerst ungewöhnlichem Aussehen. Der Kopf wölbt sich über dem Maul steil nach oben und ist fast eineinhalbmal so hoch, wie er lang ist. Rücken- und Afterflosse haben einen langen fadenförmigen Fortsatz, der auf die stark gegabelte Schwanzflosse gerichtet ist. Guanin-Farbstoffe in der Haut reflektieren das Licht.
