Bachelor of Arts in Theology

Der Bachelor of Arts in Theology (BATh) ist der niedrigste akademische Abschluss des Studienganges der Theologie. Die Regelstudienzeit an europäischen Hochschulen beträgt fünf Semester.

Der Studiengang ist mit dem Bachelor of Theology (BTh)[1][2] nahezu identisch, dauert jedoch zwei Semester länger und ist um die Fächer Dogmatik und Fundamentaltheologie erweitert worden. Römisch-katholische Diözesen, die Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland und dem lutherischen Weltbund angehörende Kirchen setzen mindestens den Bachelor of Arts für Studien auf Pfarramt voraus.

Auf einen Bachelor of Arts kann in der Regel ein Master of Arts aufbauen. Ein Bachelor of Theology reicht hierfür in der Regel aber nicht aus, es können jedoch entsprechende Ergänzungsprüfungen abgelegt werden. Mindestqualifikationen hierfür sind etwa das kirchliche oder das staatliche Hebraicum, das universitäre Hebraicum reicht in der Regel nicht aus.
