Das Unternehmen wurde 1981 von Wilfred Corrigan gegründet. 1998 erwarb LSI Logic das Unternehmen Symbios Logic von Hyundai.

2007 entstand durch einen Merger der Unternehmen LSI Logic und Agere das neue Unternehmen LSI.
