Thomas D. Rice

Thomas Dartmouth (T.D.) „Daddy“ Rice (* 20. Mai 1808; † 16. September 1860), war ein weißer US-amerikanischer Komiker und der Erfinder des blackface.

Bei dem Blackface bemalen sich weiße Künstler ihr Gesicht schwarz und spielen einen Schwarzen. Neben dem blackface wurde auch die von Rice geschaffene Tanzfigur des „Jim Crow“ zur ersten stereotypen Figur der Minstrel Show.
