Die Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT bzw. kurz IVT) ist die Implementierung einer Secure Virtual Machine von Intel. Während der Entwicklung trug Intel VT den Codenamen Vanderpool bzw. Vanderpool Technology.

Prozessoren mit Vanderpool-Unterstützung

Hier ist zu beachten, dass einige Notebookhersteller die IVT-Unterstützung deaktivieren. Die Unterstützung kann vom Betriebssystem am Prozessorflag vmx erkannt werden[1], unter Linuxbetriebssystem z. B. in der Datei /proc/cpuinfo.

Entwicklung

Intel hat mit dem Q45-Chipsatz Virtualization for Directed I/O (VT-d) eingeführt.[2] Die Konkurrenz von AMD nennt sich IOMMU.
