Vittorio Taviani

Vittorio Taviani (* 20. September 1929 in San Miniato, Italien) ist ein italienischer Filmregisseur.

Er studierte in Pisa zunächst Jura und debütierte unter dem Einfluss von Roberto Rossellini 1962 mit einem Kurzfilm, den er bereits mit seinem jüngeren Bruder Paolo Taviani zusammen drehte. 1977 wurden die Brüder international bekannt mit dem Spielfilm Padre Padrone – Mein Vater, mein Herr. 1982 erzählten sie in dem Spielfilm Die Nacht von San Lorenzo eine Episode aus dem Widerstandskampf der Resistenza gegen die faschistische Miliz im Jahre 1944. Eindrucksvoll und nicht ohne absurde Komik wird gezeigt, wie junge Männer des gleichen Dorfes auf die beiden Seiten des Krieges geraten und dann aufeinander schießen müssen.
