Willis Clark Conover (* 18. Oktober 1920, Buffalo; † 17. Mai 1996, Alexandria, Virginia) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Radiomoderator und Jazzmusik-Produzent.

Leben

Conover machte seit 1939 in Washington D.C. und New York Radiosendungen über Jazz und Unterhaltungsmusik. Seit Ende 1954 war er verantwortlicher Moderator der auch im Ausland sehr populären Voice of America Jazz Hour bzw. Music USA der Voice of America. Er war in den USA so gut wie unbekannt, selbst unter Jazzexperten, dafür aber umso mehr in Osteuropa, vor allem in der Sowjetunion. Conover war auch Konzertveranstalter und Herausgeber des Science Fantasy Correspondent. Für die Voice of America machte er Sendungen bis 1996.

1993 erhielt er für seine außenpolitische Rolle eine Auszeichnung des amerikanischen Repräsentantenhauses. 1995 zeichnete ihn das Jazzmagazin Down Beat mit seinem Lifetime Achievement Award aus.
