ANTIC (Chip)

ANTIC (AlphaNumeric Television Interface Controller) war ein Grafikbaustein in Computern der Firma Atari mit 6502 Prozessor. Die Besonderheit des Grafikbausteins war, dass er die sogenannte Displaylist abarbeitete, die für jede Bildschirmzeile Informationen enthielt. Dazu gehörten: Grafikauflösung (Grafikmodus), Adresse des Grafik-/Textspeichers für diese Zeile, Sprünge, Erzeugung eines Interrupts. Somit kann dieser Baustein als einfacher Grafik-Koprozessor gesehen werden. Der ANTIC arbeitete nur mit dem GTIA zusammen, der letztendlich das Bild aufbaute und auch für die Verwaltung der Player/Missile-Grafik (ähnlich Sprites) zuständig ist.
