Leila Aboulela (* 1964 in Karthum, arabisch ‏القاهرة‎, 'ليلى ابوالعلا') ist eine sudanesische Autorin.

Leben

Leila Aboulela ist die Tochter einer Ägypterin und eines Sudanesen. Sie wuchs zeitweilig in England auf und lebte in Djakarta und Aberdeen. Derzeit wohnt sie in Doha.

Sie besuchte Schulen in Khartoum American School und studierte Ökonomie an der Universität Khartum mit einem M.Phil. der London School of Economics and Political Science.

Ihre englischsprachigen Romane wurden für die Orange Prizes nominiert.[1]

Leila Abadoulela ist bekennende Islamistin. Sie ist verheiratet und hat drei Kinder.[2]
