CAPEX ist ein Begriff aus der Betriebswirtschaftslehre und die Abkürzung für die englische Bezeichnung "CAPital EXpenditure".

Damit sind die Investitionsausgaben eines Unternehmens für längerfristige Anlagegüter gemeint (beispielsweise neue Geräte und Maschinen oder Immobilien). Im Gegensatz dazu stehen die Ausgaben für den operativen Geschäftsbetrieb, genannt OPEX (für "OPerational EXpenditure").

Die euphemistische Ausdrucksweise CAPEX-holiday besagt, dass ein Unternehmen auf absehbare Zeit auf Investitionen verzichtet und sich darauf konzentriert, Gewinne mit den vorhandenen Ressourcen zu erwirtschaften.

CAPEX und OPEX zusammen ergeben die TOTEX (TOTal EXpenditures).
