CIGNA ist ein US-amerikanisches Unternehmen mit Firmensitz in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Das Unternehmen ist im Aktienindex S&P 500 gelistet. CIGNA bietet Versicherungen verschiedener Art an.

Das Unternehmen geht in seiner Firmengeschichte bis 1792 zurück, als das Unternehmen Insurance Company of North America (INA). 1865 wurde in Hartford das Versicherungsunternehmen Connecticut General Life Insurance Company (CG) gegründet. Rund 120 Jahre später im Jahre 1982 fusionierten die beiden Unternehmen CG und INA zum Unternehmen CIGNA.
