Beppu-Ōita-Marathon

Der Beppu-Ōita-Marathon (jap. 別府大分毎日マラソン, Beppu Ōita Mainichi Marason; offizielle engl. Bezeichnung Beppu-Ōita Mainichi Marathon), in Japan oft auch abgekürzt zu Betsudai-Marathon (別大マラソン, Betsudai marason), ist ein Marathon für die männliche Laufelite, der seit 1952 zwischen den japanischen Städten Beppu und Ōita stattfindet. Nachdem im ersten Jahr über 35 km gelaufen wurde, wird seit 1953 die volle Distanz von 42,195 km zurückgelegt. Der Kurs ist eine Wendepunktstrecke zwischen beiden Städten. Bis 1983 war der Start in Beppu, seitdem in Ōita. Das Rennen wird vom Leichtathletikverband Ōita organisiert. Hauptsponsor ist die Mainichi Shimbun.

Zweimal wurde bei dieser Veranstaltung eine Weltbestzeit aufgestellt: 1963 von Tōru Terasawa und 1978 von Shigeru Sō.

Zur 60. Austragung 2011 wurden die Qualifikationsnormen erheblich gelockert und zum ersten Mal seit 1981 wieder Frauen zugelassen. War bislang eine Marathonzeit von 2:50 h für die Teilnahme erforderlich, genügen nun 3:30 h.
