Case/4/0

case/4/0 ist ein von der Firma microTOOL entwickeltes Werkzeug für die Softwareentwicklung mit Strukturierter Analyse und Strukturiertem Design. Es unterstützt Softwareentwickler in der konzeptionellen Arbeit der Analyse, des Designs und der Implementierung.

Das Werkzeug wird seit 1985 von der Firma microTOOL entwickelt und vertrieben (damals noch unter dem Namen 'CASE'. Seit 1989 lautet die Bezeichnung 'case/4/0').

Die Analyse wird mit den SA-typischen Diagrammtypen ER-Modell, Datenstruktur, Informations- bzw. Datenflussflussdiagramm, Funktionsstruktur und Zustandsübergangsdiagramm unterstützt. Die Code-Generierung von Modulstrukturen kann in verschiedenen Programmiersprachen erfolgen: C, COBOL, Visual Basic und Java. Das Werkzeug liefert hierzu verschiedene Vorlagen. Ebenso ist es möglich aus den Informationen von modellierten Relationenmodellen Code für beispielsweise DB2 oder Oracle zu generieren.

Die Code-Generierung von case/4/0 ist skriptgesteuert und frei anpassbar. Es wird eine an BASIC angelehnte Sprache verwendet.

Die Entwicklung eines Softwaresystems mit einem CASE-Tool wie case/4/0 schafft die Grundlage für eine systematische Strukturierung sowie eine umfassende Dokumentation und erleichtert so das Verständnis für die Funktionsweise des entwickelten Systems.
