Ibn Zuhr

Abū Merwān ’Abdal-Malik ibn Zuhr (arab.: أبو مروان عبد الملك بن زهر) (auch bekannt als Ibn Zuhr, Avenzoar, Abumeron or Ibn-Zohr) (1091–1161) war ein arabischer Arzt, Chirurg und Lehrer in Al-Andalus.

Leben und Werk

Ibn Zuhr wurde in Sevilla (Spanien) geboren. Sein berühmtes Buch Al-Taisir Fil-Mudawat Wal-Tadbeer ("Book of Simplification Concerning Therapeutics and Diet") hatte großen Einfluss auf die Chirurgie. Er verbesserte das chirurgische und medizinische Wissen, indem er unterschiedliche Krankheiten und ihre Behandlung erforschte. So wies er nach, dass die Scabies durch Parasiten verursacht wird[1] und erprobte chirurgische Verfahren in Tierversuchen,[2] bevor er sie am Menschen anwandte.[3]
