In Love ist das dritte Studioalbum der aus Gießen stammenden deutschsprachigen Popband Juli, das diese nach fast vierjähriger Pause im September 2010 veröffentlichte.

Entstehungsgeschichte

Die letzten Tourneekonzerte zum Album Ein neuer Tag fanden Ende 2007 statt. In der Folge zog die Band sich für mehrere Jahre fast komplett zurück und trat nur mit wenigen kleineren Projekten – darunter die Mitarbeit bei Rhythms del Mundo – Cubano Alemán – an die Öffentlichkeit.

In der ersten, etwa eineinhalb Jahre währenden Arbeitsphase trafen sich die Bandmitglieder nicht gemeinsam zum Entwickeln neuer Songs, sondern jeder lud für sich Text- und Musikvorschläge auf einem speziellen Bandserver hoch, so dass die übrigen Bandmitglieder daran weiterarbeiten konnten.[1] Die Aufnahmen im Studio wurden wie schon bei den früheren Juli-Alben von Musikproduzent Olaf Opal betreut. Zweiter Produzent war Tobias Siebert (Sänger von Klez.e). Die Aufnahmen dauerten von Oktober 2008 bis Juli 2010 und fanden in Olaf Opals Tonstudio in Bochum sowie in Tobias Sieberts Studio in Berlin statt.

Die Single Elektrisches Gefühl wurde ab Juli 2010 im Radio gespielt und am 27. August 2010 veröffentlicht.

Rezeption

Bei Laut.de nannte Artur Schulz das Album eine „reife Leistung“: Egal, welche Karte man aus dem „Song-Fächer“ zöge, es sei immer das „Herz-As“. Besonders lobte Schulz die „Neuausrichtung“ der Band mit Samples, Scratches und gelegentlich verwendeten Synthesizern. Er vergab vier von fünf Sternen.[2] Bei t-online.de schrieb Judith Wiemers dagegen, Juli hätten „zu viel gewollt“: „Bis auf die Hitsingle Elektrisches Gefühl, in der sich der Umschwung in Richtung Elektro manifestiert und die mit eindeutigen Mia-Referenzen zumindest als euphorisierende Indietanznummer gelten kann, bleibt In Love über große Strecken bemüht und fad.“ Unter anderem wurden „stellenweise absurde Textzeilen“ kritisiert.[3]
