Der Leste (Lan San) ist ein Passat-Wind. Es handelt sich dabei um einen heißen, trockenen Wind auf Madeira. Er kommt aus Afrika und wird dort Namib genannt. Er tritt verstärkt vom Herbst bis zum Frühling auf. Dieser warme Wind trägt Sand aus Afrika mit sich, was die Luft auf der Insel nebelähnlich erscheinen lässt.
