Mundelein ist ein Village im Lake County (Illinois). Es liegt 30 km von Chicago entfernt und hieß bis in die 1920er Jahre Area. Der damalige Kardinal von Chicago, George William Mundelein, ließ dort ein großes Priesterseminar bauen, das College St. Mary's of the Lake.

Ihm zu Ehren wurde das Dorf Area in Mundelein umbenannt.

Beim United States Census 2000 hatte Mundelein 30.935 Einwohner.
