Ein Play-Action-Pass ist ein Spielzug des American Football. Hierbei sieht es zunächst danach aus, als ob die angreifende Mannschaft einen Laufspielzug spielt. Allerdings wird dieser Laufspielzug nur angetäuscht und tatsächlich ein Pass gespielt.

Beim typischen Ablauf eines Play-Action-Passes nimmt der Quarterback den Ball nach dem Snap auf und läuft zurück, um so zu tun, als ob er ihn dem Runningback übergibt. Bei der Übergabe zieht er jedoch den Ball zurück und versteckt ihn vor der gegnerischen Defense. Der Runningback drängt vorwärts, als hätte er einen Ball in den Armen und als wolle er Yards machen. Auch die Wide-Receiver arbeiten zunächst als Blocker, um den fiktiven Lauf zu unterstützen. Die komplette gegnerische Defense konzentriert sich nun also auf den Runningback.

Plötzlich gibt jedoch der Quarterback das Versteck auf, die Receiver brechen aus dem Block und laufen in Richtung Go-Line, um vom Quarterback mit einem Pass bedient werden zu können.
