Lage der Provinz Zambales

Zambales ist eine nordphilippinische Provinz an der Westküste der Region Central Luzon. Hauptort der Provinz ist Iba. Die Einwohnerzahl beträgt 493.085 (Stand 2007) und die Fläche 3.529,4 km².

Lage

Zambales liegt am westlichen Rand der Insel Luzon, zwischen den Zambales-Bergen und dem Südchinesisches Meer. Das Gebirge im östlichen Teil der Provinz bedeckt etwa 60% der gesamten Provinzfläche. Subic Bay im südlichen Teil der Provinz besitzt einen natürlichen Hafen und wurde Standort für einen US-Marinestützpunkt. Die höchste Erhebung ist der Vulkan Pinatubo zwischen Zambales, Pampanga und der Provinz Tarlac.
