Seán Fallon

Seán Fallon (* 26. September 1937 in Athlone, County Westmeath; † 4. Juli 1995) war ein irischer Politiker der Fianna Fáil.

Biografie

Fallon, der von Beruf Versicherungsmakler war, war zunächst in der Kommunalpolitik aktiv und war von 1967 bis zu seinem Tode Mitglied des Grafschaftsrates (County Council) des County Westmeath sowie des Stadtbezirksrates (Urban District Council) des im County Westmeath gelegenen Teils von Athlone. Daneben kandidierte er 1973, 1977 sowie 1981 im Wahlkreis Longford Westmeath erfolglos für ein Mandat im Unterhaus (Dáil Éireann).

Schließlich wurde er 1981 als Kandidat der Fianna Fáil erstmals zum Mitglied in den Senat (Seanad Éireann) gewählt und vertrat in diesem bis zu seinem Tode die Gruppe Industrie und Finanzen, den sogenannten Industrial and Commercial Panel.

Am 23. Januar 1992 wurde er zum Cathaoirleach gewählt und war als solcher bis zu seinem Tode am 4. Juli 1995 Präsident des Senats.
