Colligation

Colligation ist laut IUPAC-Definition die Verknüpfung zweier Atome oder Moleküle mit jeweils einem einsamen Elektron, also die Verbindung zweier Radikale, unter Bildung einer kovalenten Bindung.[1] Sie ist das Gegenteil der Spaltung eines Moleküls in zwei ungeladene Einheiten mit einem einsamen Elektronenpaar (unimolekulare Homolyse).

Beispiel:

\mathrm{H_3C \cdot + \cdot OH \rightarrow \ CH_3OH }

Im obigen Beispiel verläuft die Reaktion unter Bildung einer Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Einfachbindung. Daneben sind viele weitere Kombinationen möglich, zum Beispiel die Bildung von Bindungen zwischen Kohlenstoffatomen und Übergangsmetallen.[2]
