Peter Achinstein ist ein Professor der Philosophie an der Johns-Hopkins-Universität.

Biographie

Achinstein studierte in Harvard und schloss dieses Studium dort mit dem B.A. und Ph. D. ab. Er spezialisiert sich auf Wissenschaftstheorie und ist auch auf dem Gebiet der Wissenschaftsgeschichte ausgewiesen. Achinstein hat Lehraufträge und Stipendien von Guggenheim, NEH und NSF erhalten und hat Professuren beim MIT, in Stanford und an der hebräischen Universität von Jerusalem wahrgenommen. Er ist Gründer und Codirektor des Johns Hopkins Zentrums für Geschichte und Philosophie der Wissenschaft. Er ist verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder.

Auszeichnungen

1993 erhielt er gemeinsam mit Alexander Rosenberg den renommierten Lakatos Preis für die Arbeit "Economics--Mathematical Politics or Science of Diminsing Returns?".
