Die Talipot-Palme (Corypha umbraculifera) ist mit bis zu 24 m Wuchshöhe eine der größten Palmen. Sie stammt von Sri Lanka sowie der Malabarküste und ist in Südostasien verbreitet. Früher wurden ihre Blätter als Papier verwendet. Nach 30 bis 80 Jahren blüht sie und stirbt, nachdem Früchte entstanden sind.
