African Computer Modern

Die fc-Schriften sind eine Erweiterung der Computer-Modern-Schriften für afrikanische Sprachen. Die Abkürzung fc steht für African Computer Modern.


Die fc-Schriften wurden in den Jahren 1990–92 von Jörg Knappen entwickelt und in Metafont implementiert. Ihre Kodierung, die T4-Kodierung, umfasst 256 Zeichen und unterstützt die sogenannten kritischen Sprachen (gemäß einer Definition des Bildungsministeriums der Vereinigten Staaten sind dies alle Sprachen mit mehr als einer Million Sprechern) Afrikas mit lateinischer Schrift. Die fc-Schriften sind freie Software unter der GNU General Public Licence.
