Aglycon

Aglycon

Ein Aglycon ist in der Chemie eine nicht-Zucker-Komponente, bei der die Glycosylgruppe eines Glycosides durch ein Wasserstoffatom ersetzt wurde.[1] Ein weiteres Synonym ist Genin, da die Bezeichnung des kohlenhydratfreien Aglycons meist auf genin endet. Beispiel: Dioscin (ein Steroidglycosid oder Saponin) wurde zuerst in Dioscorea-Arten entdeckt und nach ihnen benannt. Das kohlenhydratfreie Aglycon heißt Diosgenin und ist ein Steroidderivat.
