Ahmad I. al-Husain

Ahmad I. al-Husain († 1855) war Bey von Tunis (1837–1855).

Ahmad I. übernahm die Regierung von Mustafa al-Husain (1835–1837). Unter ihm begann die Modernisierung des Landes, die sich zuerst auf das Heer und die Flotte konzentrierte. Darüber hinaus wurde 1846 die Sklaverei abgeschafft und die Beschränkungen für Juden aufgehoben. Für weitere Maßnahmen reichte die Wirtschaftskraft des Landes nicht aus, das durch den Ausbruch mehrerer Cholera-Epidemien erheblich geschwächt war. Nachfolger von Ahmad I. wurde Muhammad II. al-Husain (1855–1859).
