Das Airports Council International (ACI) ist die führende internationale Dachverband der Flughafenbetreiber mit Hauptsitz in Montreal, in Kanada.

Die ACI hat mit 580 Mitglieder, die mehr als 1650 Flughäfen in 179 Staaten und Territorien betreiben. 2005 haben die ACI-Mitglieder mehr als 4,8 Milliarden Passagiere, 79,8 Millionen Tonnen Fracht und 74,1 Millionen Flugzeugbewegungen abgewickelt[1].

Geschichte

Vor der Gründung des Airports Council International waren die Flughäfen international durch das Airport Associations Coordinating Council (AACC) vertreten. Diese Organisation wurde 1970 durch das Airport Operators Council International (AOCI), die International Civil Airports Association (ICAA) und die Western European Airports Association (WEAA) gegründet. Das Airport Council International ging 1989 aus dem AACC hervor.

Der Sitz der Organisation wurde 2010 von Genf nach Montreal verlegt.

Struktur

Die ACI besteht aus fünf Regionen, die jeweils als unabhängige Handelsgruppe unter der Verbandszugehörigkeit durch die ACI-Marke agieren. Dem entsprechend ist die Genf-basierte „ACI“ nicht ein echter Hauptsitz, sondern mehr eine Dachorganisation, die die fünf regionalen Assoziationen vereint[1]. Die fünf Regionen der ACI sind:

Weiters betreibt die ACI ein Büro bei der International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal.
