Hellblazer

Hellblazer ist eine seit den 1980er Jahren erscheinende US-amerikanische Comicserie von Vertigo (Unterabteilung von DC Comics), die die Abenteuer des übernatürlich begabten Detektivs und Antihelden John Constantine zwischen Himmel und Hölle behandelt. Von Empire online wurde Constantine hinter Superman und Batman zum drittgrößten Comicbuchcharakter gewählt.[1]

Entstehung

Der Charakter John Constantine, ursprünglich von Alan Moore für dessen Horrorreihe Swamp Thing entwickelt, ist ein stets Trenchcoat tragender Magier mit großer Ähnlichkeit zum Musiker Sting bzw. dessen Figur Ace im Film Quadrophenia.

Ab 1988 trat Constantine in seiner eigenen Comicserie Hellblazer auf, die von Autor Jamie Delano und Zeichner John Ridgway erarbeitet wurde.

Verfilmung

2005 kam eine Hellblazer-Verfilmung unter dem Titel Constantine in die Kinos. Den Titelhelden spielte Keanu Reeves, eine Tatsache, die vielen Fans missfiel, da der Schauspieler kaum Ähnlichkeit mit der Comicfigur hat. Zum Film wurde auch ein Computerspiel entwickelt.
