Hollywood Ending ist eine Filmkomödie von und mit Woody Allen, gedreht 2002 in den USA. Mit dieser Komödie wurden die Internationalen Filmfestspiele von Cannes 2002 eröffnet.

Handlung

Der Regisseur Val Waxman war in den 1970er und in den 1980er Jahren sehr prominent. Er dreht derzeit Werbefilme für das Fernsehen. Seine Ex-Ehefrau Ellie hat eine Beziehung mit dem Chef des Studios Galaxie Hal Jaeger.

Waxman wird für das große Projekt Streets of New York engagiert, aber erblindet zeitweise. Er und seine Freunde verstecken die Erblindung vor den Studiochefs.

Kritiken

  • Michael Wilmington schrieb in der Chicago Tribune, dass der Film zwar nicht perfekt sei, aber man blind sein müsse, um seine Qualitäten nicht zu erkennen. (Quelle)

Anmerkungen

Die Komödie wurde mit einem Budget von 16 Millionen Dollar in New York City gedreht. Sie startete in den US-Kinos am 3. Mai 2002, in der deutschsprachigen Schweiz am 12. Dezember 2002. Die DVD ist nur in der Original-Version (Englisch) zu haben. Hollywood Ending ist zusammen mit dem Fernsehfilm "Don´t drink the water" der einzige Woody-Allen-Film, für den keine deutschsprachige Synchronisation vorliegt.
