Hues Corporation

Hues Corporation war ein US-amerikanisches Pop- und Soul-Trio, das Mitte der 1970er Jahre internationale Erfolge verbuchen konnte. Mitglieder waren Hubert Ann Kelley (* 24. April 1947 in Fairchild, Alabama), St. Clair Lee (* 24. April 1944 als Bernard St. Clair Lee Calhoun Henderson in San Francisco, † 8. März 2011[1]) und Karl Russel (* 10. April 1947 in Columbus (Ohio)).

Ihr 1974er Hit Rock the Boat war ein Welthit und Millionenseller zu Beginn der Discoära und gehörte neben Love's Theme (Love Unlimited Orchestra) und The Sound Of Philadelphia (TSOP) (MFSB) zu den ersten Nummer-1-Hits der Disco-Ära.[2] [3] [4] [5]

Die Gruppe veröffentlichte noch vier andere Singles, die alle ebenfalls die Top-100 der amerikanischen Charts erreichten: Freedom for the Stallion (1973, Platz 63), Rockin‘ Soul (1974, Platz 18), Love Corporation (1975, Platz 62) und I Caught Your Act (1977, Platz 92). Trotz dieser Erfolge löste sich die Band 1977 auf.
