Idoxuridin (2'-Desoxy-5-iod-uridin) ist ein biochemisches Analogon des Nukleosids Uridin. Es wird als Virostatikum (z.B. Virunguent®, Zostrum®) gegen Herpesviren eingesetzt.

Chemie

Idoxuridin ist das Nukleosid aus 5-Iod-uridin und Desoxyribose.

Anwendung

Laut Coster et al.[3] soll es eine ähnliche Wirksamkeit wie Aciclovir besitzen. Idoxurin wirkt als Antagonist des Thymidins bei der DNA-Synthese der Viren.
