Ivo Banac

Ivo Banac

Ivo Banac (* 1. März 1947 in Dubrovnik) ist ein kroatischer Historiker, der an der Stanford University studiert hat (Promotion 1975) und seit 1988 an der Yale University lehrt. Er ist seit 2003 Abgeordneter des kroatischen Parlaments und war im Jahr 2003 kurzzeitig Umweltminister. Er gehörte der HSLS an; als diese sich 1997 spaltete, gehörte er zur Liberalna stranka, deren Vorsitzender er bis 2004 war. Seit seinem Parteiaustritt gehörte er dem Parlament bis zum Ende der 5. Legislaturperiode als fraktionsloser Abgeordneter an.

Von 2007 bis 2009 war er Vorsitzender des kroatischen Helsinki-Komitees für Menschenrechte.
