Journal of Virology

Das Journal of Virology (JVI) ist eine wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift, die seit 1967 monatlich von der Amerikanischen Gesellschaft für Mikrobiologie herausgebracht wird. Aktuell erscheint sie zweimal im Monat[1]; im Jahr 2008 umfassten alle Ausgaben 14.300 Seiten.[2] Chefredakteur ist Lynn W. Enquist.

Themengebiete der Zeitschrift sind Viren von Bakterien, Pflanzen und Tieren. Das JVI ist eine der wichtigsten Zeitschriften im Bereich der Virologie. Im Jahr 2005 betrug der Impact Factor 5.178; im Jahr 2007 bestimmte das Institute for Scientific Information in seinen Journal Citation Reports einen Wert von 5.332, womit die Zeitschrift Platz 3 unter 25 Zeitschriften aus der Kategorie Virologie einnahm.[2]
