21 Tauri

Asterope (auch Sterope) ist der Eigenname der in den Plejaden gelegenen Sterne 21 und 22 Tauri. Wegen ihrer geringen Leuchtkraft und ihres geringen Abstandes wurde der Name beiden Sternen zugeordnet. Heute werden sie auch als Sterope I (21 Tau) und Sterope II (22 Tau) voneinander unterschieden.

Asterope kann wie alle Sterne der Plejaden gelegentlich vom Mond bedeckt werden. Seinen Namen bezieht er von Asterope, einer Plejade der griechischen Mythologie.


Sterope I hat eine scheinbare Helligkeit von +5,76 mag und gehört der Spektralklasse B8V an. Er ist ca. 387 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt (Hipparcos-Datenbank).

Sterope II hat eine scheinbare Helligkeit von +6,43 mag und gehört der Spektralklasse A0Vn an. Er ist ca. 354 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt.
