Lewis Wolpert (* 19. Oktober 1929 in Südafrika) ist Entwicklungsbiologe und Autor verschiedener Bücher und Lehrbücher. Er schrieb außerdem Wissenschaftssendungen für die BBC und Kolumnen für die britische Tageszeitung The Independent.

Er wurde ursprünglich in Südafrika als Bauingenieur ausgebildet, ging dann aber nach London, um im Bereich Zellbiologie und Embryologie zu forschen. Er ist gegenwärtig Professor am University College London.

Er wurde 1980 Mitglied der Royal Society und 1990 Commander des Order of the British Empire. 1999 wurde er Mitglied der Royal Society of Literature. Seine Ehefrau starb an Krebs. Wolpert veröffentlichte 2008 ein Buch über Schwermut (Depression).
