Der Mercury Music Prize ist eine jährlich vergebene Auszeichnung für das beste britische Musikalbum der vorangegangenen 12 Monate. Er wurde 1992 ins Leben gerufen als Gegenstück zu den von der Musikindustrie dominierten Brit Awards. Der Name stammt vom ursprünglichen Sponsor, der nicht mehr existierenden Firma Mercury Communications.
