Mmabatho (Setswana; deutsch: „Mutter des Volkes“) war die ehemalige Hauptstadt des Homelands Bophuthatswana. Nach dem Ende der Apartheid und der Wiedereingliederung Bophuthatswanas in Südafrika am 27. April 1994 wurde Mmabatho mit der benachbarten Stadt Mafikeng zusammengeschlossen und bildet seither die Hauptstadt der neugeschaffenen Nordwestprovinz. Sie hat 44.691 Einwohner (Stand: 2010; Hochrechnung).[1]
