Handlung

Der Pilot Jean Dupre verliert seinen Job. Er und Andrea Spalding suchen einen Freund und fliegen in einem kleinen Wasserflugzeug über British Columbia. Das Flugzeug stürzt in der Wildnis ab. Dupre und Spalding geraten an Silas McGee und seinen geistig zurückgebliebenen Zwillingsbruder Ian, die nach Gold suchen.

Sobald Dupre von Gold hört, will er sich an der Suche beteiligen. Die Brüder wollen den möglichen Fund für sich behalten und versuchen, die Eindringlinge zu ermorden.

Kritiken

Film-Dienst schrieb, der Abenteuerfilm sei „spannend, wenn auch nicht durchgehend plausibel“. Er biete „einige Gruselelemente und herrliche Naturaufnahmen“.[1]

Die Zeitschrift Cinema schrieb, der Film stehe „ganz in der Tradition der Abenteuergeschichten von Jack London“. Heston spiele seine Doppelrolle „mit sichtlichem Vergnügen“. Fazit der Redaktion war: „Zu böse gespielt, zu brav erzählt“.[2]

Hintergründe

Der Film wurde in British Columbia gedreht.[3] Er startete in den Kinos in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland am 15. April 1983 während die Premiere in der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik erst am 9. Dezember 1988 stattfand.[4]
