NAUI

Die National Association of Underwater Instructors, abgekürzt NAUI, ist einer der ältesten Tauchverbände der Welt.

Der Verband wurde 1959 gegründet indem die 1951 gegründete National Diving Patrol umbenannt wurde. Bis 1987 wurde NAUI in der CMAS als Mitglied geführt. Das Motto von NAUI ist die Ausbildung der Öffentlichkeit zum Tauchen, wobei größter Wert auf den Schutz der Unterwasserwelt gelegt wird. NAUI ist bemüht um hohe Standards in der Tauchindustrie. Seit einigen Jahren wird von dem Verband auch eine Ausbildung im Technical Diving angeboten. Auch dort geht NAUI konsequent den Weg der hohen Sicherheitsstandards und stellt hohe Anforderungen an Ausbilder und Schüler.

Das Ausbildungssystem von NAUI beginnt mit dem „Scuba Diver“ über den „Advanced Diver“ und endet mit dem „Master Scuba Diver“. Schon der „Scuba Diver“ übt in seiner Ausbildung Rettungstechniken - inkl. der Beatmung eines ohnmächtigen Tauchers im Wasser - und wird recht gründlich mit der Physik des Tauchens vertraut gemacht.
