Kiang-su, am Jang-tse-kiang, (1904) 270.000 E.; seit 1899 Vertragshafen; Baumwollkultur; bis 1405 Reichshauptstadt (der Ming), 1853 durch die Tai-ping zerstört (auch der 1413-42 erbaute Porzellanturm, 84 m hoch [Abb. 1225]), 1864 wieder von den Kaiserlichen genommen. 1911.
